EMMC20 in Florenz
The 20th European Mechanics of Materials Conference (EMMC20) in Florence, Italy, has come to a successful close – and our team was happy to be part of it!
As an important conference in materials mechanics, EMMC20 provided a perfect setting for scientific exchange. Several of our team traveled to the heart of Tuscany to represent our organization, present our latest research results, and connect with colleagues from all over the world.
Our researchers actively shaped the conference program with contributions across various specialized sessions:
- Lilian Aurora Ochoa Ontiveros presented in the "Mechanics of composites: Experiments and modeling" session, focusing on "Prediction of safety limits for Particle-Reinforced Metal Matrix Composites (PRMMCs) via multiscale shakedown analysis".
- Birte Boes shared insights into "Learning interpretable constitutive models for soft materials from complex mechanical experiments" during the "Mechanics of soft materials and structures" session.
- Finnja Jellen presented her research on "An Advanced Elasto-Plastic Model for Paper and Paperboard Materials" within the "Mechanics of biological materials and biomechanics" session.
- Majd Tabib spoke about "Thermodynamically Consistent Modeling of the Nonlinear Damage Behavior of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastics" in the session on "Fracture, and damage of materials".
- Nadir Kopic-Osmanovic contributed to the "Coupled problems in material mechanics" session with a talk about "A thermo-mechanical elasto-plastic model for paper and paperboard".
A huge thank you to all our team members who put so much effort into their presentations and represented us so well in Florence! Besides the talks, we had a lot of good conversations, caught up with international colleagues, and brought home plenty of fresh inspiration. We would also like to thank the organizers for a great week in Italy!
