Reza Vafadari is specialized in structural analysis, CFD and manufacturing process simulation. He is enthusiastic about developing innovative simulation methods and optimization approaches.
Reza completed his Master's degree in Structural Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology in Göteborg (Sweden), his research was focused on multiscale simulation of composites and regularization techniques in damage mechanics. Currently he is working at the University of Wuppertal as a research associate in the Computational Applied Mechanics research group of Prof. Jaan-Willem Simon.
His current research concentrates on developing direct method for shakedown analysis of paper and paperboard-based structures under complex loading scenarios. In this way, incremental elasto-plastic analysis, particularly in the context of large deformation will be replaced by limit and shakedown analysis. Thus, paper and paperboard-based structures can be designed and optimized for safe structural performance.
