Finnja earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in Civil Engineering at RWTH Aachen University. During her several years as a student assistant and later as a research assistant, she developed a particular passion for applied mechanics and material modeling. She deepened these interests in her master's program Advanced Computational Methods in Civil Engineering, which ultimately led to her decision to join the CAM team as a research assistant, where she has already gained a wealth of valuable experience.
She also wrote her bachelor's and master's theses as part of an external collaboration with the Chair of Computational Applied Mechanics.
In her research, Finnja focuses on the numerical investigation and data-driven modeling of sustainable stainless steel mixtures based on 100 % recycled material. Her focus is on analyzing the influences of different chemical compositions and increased accompanying elements on microstructure and mechanical behavior. On this basis, she develops inverse design strategies to identify novel alloys whose mechanical properties are at least equivalent to those of reference materials.
