Computational Applied Mechanics

Birte Boes, M. Sc.

E-Mail: bboes@uni-wuppertal.de

Room: HD.02.22

Besides a semester abroad in Montreal, Birte completed her Bachelor and Master in Civil Engineering at RWTH Aachen University. After a short period as a research assistant in Aachen, she followed Prof. Jaan-Willem Simon to Wuppertal to continue her dissertation there.

Through various internships and student jobs during her bachelor's degree and afterwards, she found that she enjoyed numerical simulations and material modeling more than working on the construction site. This led to the choice of the specialization Advanced Computational Methods in Civil Engineering in her master's degree, which eventually led to the decision to pursue a PhD. Currently, she is working on material modeling of paper at the macro scale with main focus on damage behavior.
