The project "Multiscale modelling of metallic glass by a direct coarse-graining from the atomic scale to the continuum level" can start

We are pleased to announce that the German Research Foundation (DFG) has approved the project "Multiscale modelling of metallic glass by a direct coarse-graining from the atomic scale to the continuum level".

In cooperation with the Institute of General Mechanics (IAM) at RWTH Aachen University, we are pursuing the goal of developing a continuum mechanical description of metallic glasses that takes into account the local nanoscopic topology of the material. It is planned to use a direct coarse-graining method to transfer the atomic properties obtained from molecular dynamics simulations to the macroscale elasto-plasticity framework, which is solved via FEM.

We are looking forward to the work with Franz Bamer from IAM!
