Greta Kloppenburg publishes the paper "Functional description of fiber orientation in paperboard based on orientation tensors resulting from μ‑CT scans"

Together with co-authors Xiangfeng Li, Albrecht Dinkelmann, Hermann Finckh, Johannes Neumann and Jaan-Willem Simon, Greta Kloppenburg published the paper “Functional description of fiber orientation in paperboard based on orientation tensors resulting from μ-CT scans” in the journal “Cellulose”.

The microstructure of paper was captured using μ-CT scans. Our interest was in the fiber orientation distribution, which was identified in the form of thousands of orientation tensors from the scans. This allowed us to determine the orientation distribution, which was approximated using periodic and non-periodic probability density functions. In this way, structural differences in the samples could be detected and the functions could be directly incorporated into our network models.
